(this is all about me venting, so if you're not interested, STOP reading now.)
i wish we could move out, that is, if we had a place to move to--that doesn't cost an arm, leg, and my first-born child (e.g., we couldn't afford to have a first-born child if we lived there).
i'm so fed up with this place.
water is still leaking from the shower/dishwasher/kitchen sink into the basement. this can't be good for this old foundation.
the upstairs tenants must be the clumsiest people EVER. they drop things on a way-more-often-than-normal basis. at ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. 5pm, 10pm, 3am, 6am.
andy and i were woken up at least once last night, most notably at 1:58am, but the thunderous clomping down the stairs of the upstairs tenants (i think they were having a party?) they tried to shut the door, FOUR TIMES they slammed it before it closed. (mind you, the stairs and door to their apartment shares a wall that is our would-be headboard for our bed.)
AND, i just arrived home to hear one of them having sex with their girlfriend. and it must have been sex on the move, because they were causing some of the walls and doors of this 120-year-old house to shake. GROSS.
i did the college dorm thing. for FIVE YEARS (including grad school). i was an RA. i had to knock on my residents' doors when they were having sex so loudly that it was disturbing the study habits of other students. i dealt with drunks on a way-more-than-necessary basis, especially as an RA. which is why i really wish that i didn't have to be re-living it at 26 years old. in an apartment that i pay good money, that i earn, in my 40-hour a week job, that i spend 10 hours on the road each week to get to and from.
in my lease agreement, it says we're entitled to "quiet enjoyment" of our apartment. i am certainly not experiencing any quiet enjoyment of this place. i don't think that's possible with 3-5 college students living in a 1-bedroom apartment above us.
i really want to bring this up to my landlord, because we've had to modify our behavior to use the sleep timer on the TV because of the stomping around and dropping things. there is NO consideration that anyone is living below them. it's unfortunate, because this is the 3rd set of tenants that have lived up there while we've lived here [in 2 years]. (we were our landlords first tenants for this apartment). i still can't believe he let these college students rent this out, i feel like he doesn't have any consideration for us. any suggestions?
[if you made it this far, thanks for letting me vent. this is just such a frustrating situation.]
Oh, girl. I'm sorry you have to deal with all that - I know you have enough stuff going on to deal with loud and obnoxious neighbors! I hope the situation resolves itself soon!
