wee bit wednesday!

it's been a while since i've done a wee bit wednesday, and since i haven't posted in a while, let's go for it.

i am planning on posting soon (probably this weekend) about my adventures this past weekend... i went on a TRIP! [on a plane, and stayed in a hotel and everything]. so we'll just let the anticipation build.

{one} what's your guilty pleasure tv show?

desperate housewives and grey's. although i know they are ridiculous, i can't stop watching.

{two} ear piercings on men: yes or no?

absolutely not. no piercings on men.

 

{three} do you have dish or comcast?

comcast. although i wish i had fios

 

{four} what's your favorite current fashion trend?

i wouldn't exactly say that i'm trending anything fashion-wise....

 

{five} if you could learn to do anything, money not being an issue, what would it be?

i would love to take a lot of time and trips to hone my photography skills.

 

{six} red or white wine?

neither? i'm not a huge wine fan, but i do like some fruity wines

 

{seven} what type of food is your favorite (ex. italian, mexican, etc.)

i love some good american cooking, you know, fried chicken, bbq, summer-y foods.

 

{eight} hp or mac?

i'm a dell. but there's a part of me that would like to think about a mac...

 

{nine} what color is your bedroom?

boring beige. rather not spend money to paint an apartment i'm renting...

 

{ten} what's your favorite form of exercise?

pilates [classical]. LOVE IT.

i've spent today as a sick day. i've come down with some miserable sore throat and head cold. highlight the miserable. i'm just hoping i'm better by friday because we're going camping! 

{one} have you ever been stuck in an elevator?yes. i've also been dropped in an elevator. oh the perks of living in a high rise dorm for 5 years.

{two} have you ever ridden on an elephant?nope 

{three} have you ever met a well known celebrity?i met Third Eye Blind (my favorite band) back in 2003. I also met Josh Kelley that same night. 

{four} do you have any food allergies?No, but I have to be careful when it comes to nuts (due to a weird enzyme thing I've got). 

{five} do you know how to sew?Nope, that's what my mom's for! :) 

{six} did you get an allowance when you were young?not really, i would just get money when i was going somewhere. 

{seven} how often do you fill up your gas tank?every 6 days. ugh. (i have a 66 mile round trip daily commute) 

{eight} have you ever been stung by a jelly fish?yes, by tiny man-o-wars off the coast of Ecuador. 

{nine} have you ever been robbed?my roommate my freshman year stole things from me, and then vehemently denied it. 

{ten} what is the worst haircut you’ve ever had?i had super short hair in preschool-1st grade. pretty much, my hairstyle hasn't changed since 2nd grade. yeah.

 {one} how often do you do laundry?once a week. or when the laundry basket overflows.

{two} what is your favorite type of cookie?a local vegan bakery (i'm not vegan) makes a peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal cookie and it is pretty much the most amazing thing i have ever tasted.

{three} what would you do with an extra $2000 per month?buy a house.

{four} what was/is your favorite subject in school?i suppose it had to be science (but not physics, and not really chemistry, so i guess biology/life science...)

{five} have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon?YES! my dad took me to the NJ Festival of Ballooning when i was in 8th grade, and he had arranged for us to go up with the evening launch. it was awesome. i'd love to do it again.

{six} what was your high school mascot?The Tiger. (and yes, Eye of the Tiger was played at every wrestling match and football game)

{seven} if you had the chance to go into space, would you?well, when i was a kid i wanted to be an astronaut. i would LOVE go to, but i would need some really good motion sickness prevention beforehand.

{eight} how often do you go dancing?well, unless you count Zumba... never. (last time i went was in Ecuador in 2006... i really should have taken those salsa lessons...)

{nine} would you rather drive or fly?fly.

{ten} have you ever been caught re-gifting?nope. i keep post-it notes on who the gift was from so i won't re-gift in the same circle... hahaha

{one} have you ever fainted?yes, twice. from being dehydrated from a stomach bug.


{two} what is your favorite casino game?

eh, not really into casinos. but slots are fun.

{three} do you have a good sense of direction?yes! something i pride myself in. 

{four} laptop or desktop?laptop 

{five} what is your go-to hair style when having a bad hair day?some horrendous knot. then it just looks bad, to cover up bad hair? 

{six} do you read the newspaper on a daily basis?no. i don't even get to watch the news daily.  

{seven} do you have a favorite celebrity chef?i've enjoyed some tasty Giada recipes... 

{eight} what tv show would you like to make a guest appearance on?i don't think i want to be on any shows i watch...  

{nine} do you have satellite radio in your car?nope. just regular radio, CD player, and tape deck. 

{ten} what was the last movie that made you cry?Mr. Hollands Opus. or pretty much any movie i watch.

{one} what is one food that, as an adult you love, but as a child you said you’d never touch?i pretty much ate nothing as a child aside from chicken fingers, hot dogs and pizza, so anything would qualify. but the first specific thing that comes to mind is BBQ sauce. (i still deny that ketchup is involved--i hate ketchup)


{two} did you go to college? if yes, what was your major?yes. i completed a 5-year combined BA/MA program and graduated with a bachelor's in environmental science and a master's in energy and environmental analysis.


{three} what’s the most wild animal you’ve seen in real life (not counting the zoo)?i studied abroad in ecuador, including the galapagos islands, and went on an african safari in grad school, so giant tortoises? swimming with sea lions? 10 species of monkeys? lions? hippos? elephants? crocodiles? a black rhino? blue-footed boobies? 

{four} have you ever been to a fortune teller?yes to a palm reader, i went with some friends in high school. she knew that my uncle had just passed away, it was kind of creepy.


{five} can you juggle?no. not at all.


{six} hardwood floors or carpet?depends on the room, but i'd lean towards hardwood.


{seven} is it called “soda” or “pop”?soda


{eight} what was your first car?a 2000 toyota echo. and it's still my car :)


{nine} what is the most decadent dessert you’ve ever eaten?i've eaten a lot of decadent desserts in my day (mmm chocolate), but i'll have to go with this one: new years eve 2001, at the top of a hotel on the highest of the seven hills of Rome, at the most extravagant dinner i've ever attended ($1000/per person), and pretty much all i  ate were the rolls and the dessert -- two chocolate towers with 2001 in chocolate between them. (i was not eating duck liver pate or quail eggs or caviar in a zucchini flower )

so, i've been a little absent from the blogosphere. i've been busy with work (i was at a grant writing workshop last week), and then my weekend was not relaxing--volunteering at a national wildlife refuge and then doing some work on sunday [bleh] and going to some local open houses. it's been pretty exhausting, and i think my body is angry with me [i'm going to the doctor today]. but, since i spent all yesterday afternoon in bed, i missed wee bit wednesday, so here goes:


{one} what was your first job?i worked a girl scout camp at age 16 [and worked there over the summers until i was 20] and it was amazing
{two} have you ever seen a stand up comedian?yes, i went to see some local stand up when i was living in boston.
{three} when was the last time you played mini golf?too long ago.
{four} what was the last picture you took?with my phone- the snow yesterday. with a camera- a spot that we're going to plant a garden for work.
{five} burnt food: yes or no?ew. no.
{six} if you have a pocket full of change, what do you do with it?well, i hate change in my pocket, but i put it in a coffee can at home.
{seven} can you touch your tongue to your nose?yes.
{eight} do you scrapbook?i still say that i do, but i haven't touched my scrapbooking stuff in maybe 2 years? it's on my to-do list.
{nine} do you buy lottery tickets?no. i wish i could win the lottery without having to buy a ticket :)
{ten} do you prefer to be in front of the camera or behind it?behind it, for sure.

{two} what’s your favorite sundae topping?peanut butter  

{three} do you own slippers?yes! i love slippers. i'm wearing them right now. 

{four} did you ever have a tree house?nope, and i sort of wanted one, but we didn't have the yard for it. 

{five} how you do relieve stress?exercise... a good go on the elliptical with some rockin' angry tunes. 

{six} what’s your favorite dr. seuss book?the lorax. i used to have it nearly memorized. it comes back when i read it though. 

{seven} have you ever taken dance classes?no, but i plan on making andy take classes with me before we get married :) 

{eight} which do you use more: the thesaurus or the dictionary?the thesaurus. 

{nine} what’s your favorite form of exercise?depends on my mood. elliptical, pilates, zumba, bodypump, little bit of everything. 

{ten} what’s the longest you’ve ever waited in line?when my family went to six flags when i was younger, i remember we waited in line for 56 minutes for a 53 second ride. it might not have been the longest, but probably the most ridiculous i've been in.

it's time for wee bit wednesday! :)  {one} what color is your kitchen?it's beige. but it definitely has a green theme (green curtains, decorations, towels, oven mitts, etc)

{two} do you have a good luck charm?nope.

{three} do you prefer to write with a pen or pencil?pen definitely. blue ink is better.

{four} can you use chopsticks?yes, and i love using chopsticks.

{five} do you prefer baths or showers?showers, but who doesn't love a nice relaxing soak in the tub?

{six} what is your favorite salad dressing?none. i actually like to eat my salads dry. (cuts back on the calories too!)

{seven} can you sing the alphabet backwards?no. i don't even think i could say the alphabet backwards. isn't that a sobriety test?

{eight} do you have any allergies?penicillin. and succinylcholine (an anesthesia)--it's related to a weird enzyme deficiency that i have, that is sort of related to pesticides on some nuts. or something like that. i just know that if they give me that anesthesia, i could be paralyzed for a while or forever. 

{nine} crunchy or creamy peanut butter?creamy.

{ten} have you ever hitch hiked?no, and i wouldn't ever want to.
