101 things about me

  1. my favorite color is green.
  2. daisies are my favorite flower.
  3. i think peanut butter and chocolate is the best combination ever.
  4. fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil is the 2nd best combination ever.
  5. i love photography. more, i just love taking pictures.
  6. ansel adams is my favorite photographer.
  7. eating bagels gives me the hiccups.
  8. i am getting married on august 18, 2012.
  9. i spent a semester studying tropical ecology in Ecuador.  
  10. i was born and raised in New Jersey. i lived there for the first 24.5 years of my life.
  11. i went to college & grad school in Boston.
  12. i had a master's degree at the age of 22.
  13. my directed study project (for my master's) was titled: "Coal mine power density: an analysis of the spatial energy production of U.S. surface coal mines using GIS and Google Earth." [super interesting topic, no?]
  14. musical instruments i have played: viola (13 years), piano (4 years), bassoon (3 years), clarinet (2 years), violin (2 years).
  15. i played doubles on my high school varsity tennis team.
  16. i threw the shotput and occasionally ran some distance races on my high school winter track team.
  17. i came in last place in every event i competed in on the winter track team except one--the 1500m power walk. i came in 2nd to last. this was the most difficult event i ever competed in. 
  18. softball was the sport i played the longest: for 8 years. 
  19. i am five feet tall. even.
  20. i love Pilates, hot yoga, Zumba, and BODYPUMP.
  21. my birthday is july 3.
  22. i want to visit all 7 continents. so far, i have been to 4: north america, south america, europe, and africa. 
  23. in the quest to visit all 50 states, i have been to 19: AL, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, LA, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, TN, TX, VA, WI. i have driven through other states, but not stayed long (GA, MS, NC, SC).
  24. i have visited the following countries: US, Canada, Italy, England, Jamaica, Ecuador, Kenya, Tanzania, and a few Caribbean islands. 
  25. I once won a trip to Hong Kong in a fortune cookie (at a Continental Airlines event celebrating a new non-stop flight from Newark to Hong Kong). I never went.
  26. i have a twin, but we're not related. we met in 2001 and became instant best friends.
  27. i have flat feet.
  28. i have a freckle on the bottom of my right foot.
  29. i love scrapbooking, but have a hard time completing them.
  30. i currently have 4 scrapbooks in the works [camp 3, bf & i, musical endeavors, and the first three years of high school]  and 3 waiting to be started [senior year of HS, college & study abroad]. 2 books are completed [camp 1 & camp 2]. 
  31. i have never dyed my hair.
  32. i have donated my hair twice to Locks of Love. 
  33. i met the love of my life, Andy, on may 17, 2006.
  34. i completed a year of AmeriCorps--the domestic Peace Corps--September 2008-July 2009.
  35. i know all the words to "We Didn't Start the Fire." (and so does Andy.)
  36. i have one sister-Alison. she is 3 years older than me.
  37. i have a scar by my right nostril. i pulled our dog Mike's hair when I was about a year old, and he didn't like that.
  38. i worked at a girl scout camp for 5 summers. some of the best of my life.
  39. my camp nickname was "Ace." [from Snoopy as the Flying Ace]
  40. i always wear a claddaugh ring on my right hand (and have since 2004).
  41. i have held live bats, on two continents (North & South America).
  42. my favorite poem is "Supermarket" by Peter Meinke.
  43. i am addicted to chapstick (the blue kind).
  44. i am a Nikon (D40). 
  45. i had a fish for nearly 9 years. his name was Acers. i purchased him at walmart in 2002. he went belly-up (due to a major change from city to well water) in 2011. 
  46. my favorite author is Bill Bryson.
  47. the first broadway show i ever saw was Beauty and the Beast (in 1994). 
  48. i love margaritas.
  49. i went on a African safari in Tanzania in 2008. for a class--Economic Development & Tourism. we went to ngorongoro crater, serengeti, and lake manyara.
  50. i am a sap when it comes to movies. i cry when it gets emotional at all.
  51. i have had 2 boyfriends. i am engaged to the 2nd one.
  52. i love snail mail. writing and receiving.
  53. for most of my elementary/middle school/high school days, i had a peanut butter sandwich. no jelly. (gross).
  54. i had knee surgery for a torn meniscus when i was 20 years old. 
  55. i went to ecuador 8 weeks after surgery. 
  56. my first concert was the beach boys (and america).
  57. my favorite band is third eye blind. 
  58. i have seen 3eb three times in concert (2000, 2002, and 2003).
  59. in 2003, i got to meet them.
  60. when i was in college, i only missed 8 classes. (2 to meet third eye blind, 2 for a department field trip, and 4 for knee surgery & related appointments).
  61. i never missed a class in grad school.
  62. i was a resident assistant for 2 years (my senior and grad years)
  63. i lived in the same dormitory for 5 years (it was mostly a freshman/soph dorm. i stayed for the one semester i was there my junior year, and became an RA the next year).
  64. i prefer to write with blue ink.
