so, before i transitioned to this blog, i had written a blog entry about my trip to the Johnson Space Center in Houston this January. my parents now live in Houston, so when we went to visit, it was only natural we headed there. I dreamed of being an astronaut since I was 10 years old, which unfortunately didn't happen because of my disdain for physics and my propensity to motion sickness.
But today was the final shuttle liftoff. I suppose even if I had been a physics wiz and could ride roller coasters (or boats, cars, buses, etc) without getting sick, I wouldn't have been in the program long enough to be on the space shuttle. Maybe I would have just loved to have been in mission control.
So although I'm at work today, I decided I had to watch the shuttle take-off live. This was an important moment in our history, the end of the space shuttle program, and I've never seen it happen in person, nor even over the internet or TV live, so it was high time (I missed the last one by 4 minutes!--which by the way is long enough for them to completely reach space).
So if you missed it, and you want to see it, visit NASA TV. Awesome!
(oh, p.s. i do have a post coming about my 4th of july weekend, i just haven't gotten around to getting the pictures of my camera!)
